Daily Herald photograph entitled 'St Paul's in an Island of Nazi Ruin'. Caption on back reads: 'A remarkable photograph taken from the Golden Gallery surmounting the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral which emphasises the providential escape of Wren's masterpiece in a sea of fire started by the Nazis which destroyed many churches and other historic buildings and innumerable office premises. Looking north-west over the devastated area, home of the booksellers, bounded by Paternoster Row and Ave <aria Lane. In the background is the gutted church of Christ Church Newgate Street.'
