'Aircast Walker Sock' Support Bandage, Patterson Medical, 2015-2018. Designed to provide a soft, comfortable liner to the walker boot. Made of cream-coloured unidentified fabric.

This is the second of two items donated by Dr Elizabeth (Liz) Bruton who lives in Oxford and works at the ScM as Curator of Technology and Engineering. Liz broke her ankle (fibula and tibula) on 9th January 2018 during a cycling accident and was treated at Chelsea and Westminster hospital in London and then John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford. Liz underwent three surgeries to her ankle which was initially put in a cast, then an external fixator frame, and finally had metalwork put in and returned to a cast on 19 January. On 31st January Liz attended the NHS Trauma Clinic at the JR hospital where she had the cast and stitches removed and was given the walker boot. She later purchased the Aircast Walker Sock for comfort.
