Central Press Photos Ltd photograph titled 'Laurence Olivier makes a return to Stratford'. Caption on back reads: Sir Laurence Olivier, the ever-popular actor, is to make a welcome return to Stratford to appear as 'Corpiolanus', which he acted in London just prior to the last war. 'Coriolanus' produced by Peter Hall, is the fourth in a series of plays in the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre's 100th season, and opens on Tuesday 7th July, 1959. The picture shows a scene 'down ladies' with 'Coriolanus' played by Sir Laurence Olivier with (left) 'Virgilia' played by Mary Ure and (centre) 'Volumina' played by Dame Edith Evans, during recent rehearsals.
