Sir Laurence Olivier receives a Danish knighthood

PA Reuter photograph titled 'In memory of Sheridan'. Caption on back reads: Actor Sir Laurence Olivier today (Friday) received a Danish honour when he was invested at the Danish Embassy as Knight COmpanion of the Order of Dannebrog. Sir Laurence is well-known in Denmark. In June, 1937, he and Vivien Leigh, appeared in a series of open-air performances of "Hamlet" in the courtyard of Kronborg Castle in Elsinore. Footnote: It has been announced that the British Film Academy Award for the best film made anywhere in 1948, goes to "Hamlet" in which Sir Laurence starred.

Picture shows: At the presentation ceremony, Left to Right: Vivien Leigh (Lady Olivier), Prince George of Denmark, Sir Laurence Olivier (admiring the award) and Count Reventlow, the Danish Ambassador, who performed the investiture.
