Archive of the British Transport Christian Fellowship (BTCF). The archive contains seven lever arch files and includes agendas, minutes and supporting papers for BTCF Executive Committee Meetings and Annual General Meetings, documentation relating to BTCF days out, conferences, involvement with the International Railway Mission, miscellaneous documents relating to BTCF, including its constitution and correspondence, ten hand written minute books dating back to the 1920s and a collection of Railway Servant’s Christian Union (RSCU)/BTCF magazines and newsletters, some of which are pre-First World War.

The Railway Mission was founded in 1881, 45 years later a second Christian organisation, initially called the Railway Servant’s Christian Union (RSCU), was set up. The Railway Servant’s Christian Union (RSCU) later changed its name to the British Transport Christian Fellowship (BTCF). Whilst the Railway Mission sought to reach out to all railway staff, the BTCF was an organisation that arranged meetings in the workplace for those who were already Christian. For a number of years, the leaderships of both did not see eye to eye with each other. The two organisations did agree to start working more closely together in 2008, however, virtually all the BTCF members by then were retired. In 2014, the membership of BTCF agreed to wind the organisation up for good.
