Earthenware retort
Earthenware retort with long cylindrical nozzle pointing off to one side of the pot. Potentially used to hold mercury.
Earthenware retorts are one of the earliest kinds of chemical apparatus, and are used to heat things in. They are precursors to the chemical glassware that is still in use today.
