Dip pens do not have internal reservoirs like most modern pens do, so the nib must be dipped into a bowl of ink to work. This pen is marketed as self-filling and seeks to solve the time consuming and messy need to dip your pen.
The Swan fountain pen began being manufactured by Mabie, Todd and Company in around 1884.
