Letter from Dr Thomas Grace Geoghegan

Letter from Dr Thomas Grace Geoghegan, Professor of Medical Jurisprudence in Ireland, complimenting Alfred Swaine Taylor on his recent medical jurisprudence publication and discussing poisoning cases, dated 1838 and a letter of invitation for a visit. Alfred Swaine Taylor (1806-1880) was an eminent British forensic medicine expert, toxicologist and early photographic pioneer.

[The Field papers: a collection of manuscript and printed material principally relating to the work of Joshua Field as a partner in the engineering firm of Maudslay, Sons and Field. ca.1805-1865. Comprises: volumes 1 and 2 which consist of miscellaneous items bound in chronological order by subject, and volumes 3 to 13 which are single, unrelated works. Vol.1 contains material on ships, marine engines etc; vol.2 contains material on stationary engines and boilers, railways and locomotives, machine tools etc. Volume 7, diary of a tour by Field in 1821 through the manufacturing districts of the Midlands, was transcribed for the Transactions of the Newcomen Society vols. 6 & 13. 13 vols ; 46.5 x 30cm. or less.
