Letter from Charles Cory Aldred

Letter from Charles Cory Aldred, surgeon at Great Yarmouth and later mayor, to Alfred Swaine Taylor, dated April 8th 1841, thanking him for his opinion regarding the Yaxley murder trial which Aldred gave evidence at. Alfred Swaine Taylor (1806-1880) was an eminent British forensic medicine expert, toxicologist and early photographic pioneer. The Yaxley murder trial in Great Yarmouth concerned the drowning of a 14 month old girl named Lavinia Kerrison by Charlotte Yaxley, the new wife of the child's father. Charlotte Yaxley was found guilty and sentenced to transportation for life.
