‘Brico Banc’ combined vice and workbench by Casals, Spain, 1980. This product was found to infringe the patents on the Workmate developed by Ron Hickman and manufactured by Black & decker, and subsequently withdrawn from sale.
The 'Brico Banc' appeared in 1980, in France and Spain, as a competitor for the Black & Decker Workmate. In 1981, Casals agreed to withdraw it from all export markets, and to pay royalties on sales in Spain. This case established the primacy of the Workmate patents in France.
