Demo case and contents for BIORING adjustable gastric band, Cousin Biotech, France, 2018.

Grey metal case with plastic handle. Blue foam insert with cut outs for each object. Perspex inlay in lid with shape resembling the stomach post-gastric band insertion. Inside of lid marked with ' Echantilion non sterile - non implantable / non sterile sample - do not implant. Case contains three sizes of smooth silicon 'bioring' gastric band, two 'ports', one gripping tab, one catheter rinser, one 'connecter', one 'huber needle', one syringe.

Bioring is an adjustable gastric band used to treat obesity via a minimally-invasive and reversible surgical technique. Gastric bands are fitted to the top of a person's stomach. As a result, the stomach can hold less food and the person feels full more quickly. Surgical techniques, plus support around long-term behaviour change, can produce dramatic weight loss and is sometimes a life-saving option. Gastric bands are one of few treatments available for obesity following diets, medicines and lifestyle changes.

This demo case shows three varying sizes of gastric band as well as the tools needed to prepare the bands and ‘ports’ for insertion.
