Apollo 17 A7LB Lunar Extravehicular Mobility Unit Space Suit, replica, by Guard-Lee Inc., c. 1982-2002. The A7LB space suit was used between 1971 and 1975 on Apollo missions 15 to 17, the Skylab and Apollo-Soyuz projects.
This suit allowed greater mobility for the wearer and for extended periods on the lunar surface or in space. This replica represents the A7LB worn by Gene Cernan – the last astronaut to walk on the Moon - during the Apollo 17 mission. The external appearance of the suit, helmet and the PLSS (Portable Life Support System or ‘backpack’) are near identical to the real thing. It can be worn but with the unavailability of original A7LBs will be used as an important and striking display object.
