Nine 5.25" install disks and ten technical manuals for the microsoft Windows Operating System, Version 1.0, by Microsoft Corporation, United States, 1985-1994

Microsoft Windows Operating System, Version 1.0, developed by Microsoft Corporation, United States, 1985-1994.

This was the first version of the now universal Microsoft Windows operating system. Windows was one of the first graphical interface operating systems - meaning that its display used pictures and graphics as well as words. The name 'Windows' referred to the pop up boxes that characterised the system. Rather than typing commands, users could use a mouse to point and click their way through different windows. Microsoft offered support for Windows 1.0 until the end of 2001 - the longest availability of all Windows versions.
