Gelatine silver print entitled 'Weaver, Pecket Well Mill, near Hebden Bridge' by Ian Beesley. Produced for the commission `Through the Mill:, The Story of Yorkshire Wool in Photographs'.1985-1987'.

Pecket Well Mill was built in 1858 as a weaving shed. In the nineteenth century the power loom mechanised the weaving process and increased production compared to the domestic hand loom. These machines used wooden shuttles that were passed back and forth across the loom. Modern machines use metal shuttles that are much faster and quieter.
