Gelatine silver print entitled 'Wool Grease Extraction, Esholt Sewage Works, Esholt' by Ian Beesley. Produced for the commission `Through the Mill:, The Story of Yorkshire Wool in Photographs'. 1985-1987'.
Scouring the wool produces a useful by-product in the form of 'lanolin' for making soaps, cosmetics, etc. The works at Bradford, apart from treating the domestic sewage, were specifically designed to extract the wool grease on a commercial basis.
