Brimham Rocks, near Pateley Bridge, Nidderdale

Standing like some Gothic ruins these huge masses of millstones grit offered ideal shelter for breeds of Yorkshire sheep like the Penistone. Eroded by winds since Permian times, these spectacular shaped rocks are each individually named. Brimham was another of the large estates owned and farmed by the monks of Fountain Abbey.
