Gelatine silver print entitled 'Mastiles Lane, near Kilnsey' by Ian Beesley. Produced for the commission `Through the Mill:, The Story of Yorkshire Wool in Photographs'. 1985-1987'.

The monks of Fountains established a grange at Kilnsey from which the sheep farms of Malham Moor were managed. They also owned property in Malham village which housed a steward and they were owners of several houses in the moorlands of this photograph, in which three or four shepherds lived. Mastiles Lane was the 'drove road' linking Kilnsey with Malham.
