- maker:
- Ian Beesley
Gelatine silver print entitled 'View from Lister's Mill, Manningham, Bradford' by Ian Beesley. Produced for the commission `Through the Mill:, The Story of Yorkshire Wool in Photographs'. 1985-1987'.
The urban mills which mushroomed in West Riding towns in the nineteenth century also spawned a varying range of workpeople's cottages. These are terraced homes of the workforce of Samuel Cunliffe Lister at Manningham almost adjacent to the weaving shed in the foreground. In the distance, Bradford's urbanisation sprawls all over Bolton and Undercliffe.
