Gelatine silver print entitled 'Wool Sorting at Lower Holme Mills, Baildon' by Ian Beesley. Produced for the commission `Through the Mill:, The Story of Yorkshire Wool in Photographs'.1985-1987'.

Each fleece contains numerous qualities of wool which are carefully sorted and divided by hand. The skilled wool sorter can distinguish the quality of the wool according to its length, fineness and crimp (waviness). The best wool is often found around the shoulder and on the back of sheep.
