Medal awarded to a transplant recipient for third place in the over male 60s 1500m race as part of the Westfield Health British Transplant Games, the 40th Transplant Games held in North Lanarkshire, 2017

Transplant Sport hosts an annual British Transplant Games. Thought up consultant surgeon Maurice Slapak, the first Games rook place in Portsmouth in 1978 and originally included competitors from the United Kingdom, France, Greece and the United States. The Games have over 800 transplant recipients aged 2- 80 years old taking part in over 20 different sports.

The aim is to encourage transplant recipients to be active and exercise, to promote organ donation and to celebrate the donors who made their transplants possible. Local activities are also organised throughout the year.
