Black and white silver gelatin photograph of resting between loads of hay bales.Taken by Ian MacDonald and Patrick Sutherland, 1985. Bales are brought, in this instance, by the tractor straight from the field in loads of either 13 or 17 to be led by hand into the barn for storage as winter feed. ('To lead' something means to take it from one place to another). From the Impressions Gallery exhibition 'Written in the Fields'.
