Three black and white silver gelatin photographs; Top left: Rickling of peats to dry in the summer winds. Top right: The peats are cut out long and can be quite wet. Marks of the down cut can be seen on the peat face. Bottom: Relaxing between leading peats whilst Mr Macdonald makes a down cut into the peat bed with a garden spade. A peat spade is seen at left in the picture. Taken by Ian MacDonald and Patrick Sutherland, 1985. From the Impressions Gallery exhibition 'Written in the Fields'.
