One Tulip Valve Stem Cup, intended for use during menstruation. Made from pink medical-grade silicone, and contained within a sealable, transparent plastic case that is labelled with 'The Tulip Cup' branding. Manufactured on behalf of The Tulip Cup Limited, 2014-2018

Disposable period products have a large environmental impact, and this has become an important topic of conversation. A disposable tampon is around 6% plastic, and many have plastic applicators. This means they take a long time to break down in landfill and disposable period products are regularly found during beach cleans in the UK. Reusable menstrual cups like these offer an alternative which has much less impact on the environment.

However, the high upfront cost of purchasing a cup and the need to wash and sterilise regularly means that access to them is not always equal.
