Linen cloth

2000 BC- 640 AD

A red cardboard box containing a letter and a rectangular piece of linen cloth, of ancient Egypt origin (supposedly belonging to a mummy).

The letter is dated 6th June 1941. Institute of Archaeology, University of Liverpool addressed to Miss Eastwood, from D. Millet, Acting Secretary. "Dear Madam, I am in receipt of your letter addressed to Professor Peet (who died seven years ago) and have consulted professor Blackman (professor of Egyptoloy in this university) with regard to the approximately date of the mummy cloth: he says that it is impossible to judge tha date as it might be anything from 2000 BC down to the Roman Period. I return the cloth herewith. Yours faithfully."
