Hand painted panoramic lantern slide of the Royal Carriage procession to the opening of the Great Exhibition, 1851, depicting a group of seven caricature figures representing the Corporation of the City of London, comprising Beefeaters and a John Bull type figure, one holding a corporation banner, another with a flag dated 'First of May 1851',

The Great Exhibition was held in Hyde Park, London, from 1 May to 15 October 1851 and was the first in a series of World’s Fairs, exhibitions of culture and industry that became popular in the 19th century (the Science Museum was founded with the profits made from the Exhibition shortly after).
