In front stands an ornate fire guard and the mantle piece displays a clock, two urns, and vases of flowers. The floor is highly polished and inlayed with different coloured wood or marble.
From page 14 of snapshot photograph album no. 15, compiled by Herbert Galloway Stewart (1866-1960). Galloway Stewart was English tutor to the sons of Grand Duke Alexander and his wife Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna, sister of Tsar Nicholas II, between 1908 and 1917.
