Black and white photograph entitled 'One of our Battleships in the Tyne, taken on the way up the river. I nearly lost my camera over this photograph'. The photograph shows a large battleship on the River Tyne, a bench can be seen in the foreground. Taken by Herbert Galloway Stewart at Stavanger in the North East of England, in December 1914.

From page 19 of snapshot album number 13 of the Russian Imperial Royal Family, compiled by Herbert Galloway Stewart (1866-1960).

The photograph appears to have been taken from a stable position, either from another boat or pier. Herbert Galloway Stewart possibly nearly lost his camera through being confiscated as opposed to dropping into the river.
