18 ct gold pair cased watch by Septimus Miles, London, hallmarked 1814. Plain outer and inner cases. Case makers mark D.W. (Daniel Walker, 49 Clerkenwell Close, London). Gold engine turned dial with raised Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial. Gold hour and minute hands with blued steel seconds hand. Stop lever acting on the pallets. Movement with rack lever escapement, fusee and maintaining power. Jewelled holes to fourth wheel, with a diamond endstone in blued steel setting. Bosley index. Signed on movement and dust-cap 'Septs. Miles, Ludgate Street, London 4820'. Clockmakers' Museum No. 1517
