Boots brand celluloid eye shade for a right eye, pink flesh colour with string attachment in original box, 1930-1940

This eye shade would have been used to protect the eye while recovering from an injury, illness, or infection. The outward facing side of the shade is generally flesh coloured to appear as ‘natural’ as possible. The side facing the eye is green as different tints and colours of green were thought to lessen eye strain. The shade is specifically shaped to be worn on comfortably on the right eye and the string would have been used to secure it in place.
