Pin badge of the Huygens probe, in blue plastic ESA branded box, by European Space Agency, 1997-2000

Huygens was a robotic space probe built by the European Space Agency and launched by NASA in 1997 as part of the Cassini–Huygens mission.

Huygens split from the Cassini orbiter on December 25th 2004, and successfully landed in Saturn’s moon Titan a few weeks later on January 14th 2005. It was the first spacecraft to land on Titan and achieved the farthest landing from Earth.

Huygens had six instruments on board in addition to cameras, which were intended to collect and send data about Titan’s atmosphere for a few hours.
