Leather case for Sharp Font Writer FW-760, early 1990s
Electronic word processors such as the Sharp Font Writer FW-760 had taken the place of electric typewriters but were soon in turn replaced by the word processing software. The Sharp Font Writer FW-760 was a small portable electronic word processor with a number of different innovative features including eight different applications (word processor, spreadsheet, address book, label printing, utilities, multilingual translator, card printing, and clip art) as well as a DOS-compatible floppy disc drive for unlimited document storage. A novel feature of the Sharp Font Writer FW-760 was the multilingual document generator, which converted from a series of document templates into French, German, Italian or Spanish.

All three “word processing” technologies overlapped at the end of the twentieth century soon to be almost completely replaced by word-processing computing software.
