Made:
1880-1980
maker:
Unknown

Length of armoured coaxial submarine cable, recovered from sea bed kinked and damaged, unknown maker, 1880-1980.

Cables laid under the sea were vulnerable to damage. They were often armoured in layers of metal and other materials in order to protect them, but this was not always successful. This cable was probably damaged by being snagged on a ship's anchor.
