Pye Model G radio receiver, c.1932, featuring Pye’s distinctive ‘Sunburst’ design on the speaker grille.

This design was first introduced in the late 1920s but lost favour in 1941 when Japan entered World War Two, due to its similarity to the Japanese ‘Rising Sun’ flag. An attempt to reintroduce the design post-WW2 led to such an outcry that it was dropped for good.
