More
There was much stigma surrounding HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) during the early 1990s. HIV is the virus causing the disease called AIDS. HIV is transmittable via bodily fluids during unprotected sex, blood transfusions or the sharing of hyperaemic needles. Symptoms may not appear for years so it is possible to unknowingly infect others. This poster was produced by the Health Education Authority in England. It attempted to dispel the myths and stigma surrounding the disease by encouraging people to 'Share the facts, not the fiction'. It gives illustrated information about HIV and AIDS, and provides the AIDS telephone helpline.
