Many greetings cards makers developed cards with designs reflecting responses to the COVID-19 pandemic including social distancing, staying at home, and self-isolation. During lockdowns in the UK to prevent the spread of COVID-19, putting rubbish bins out for collection became one of the few reasons to leave home. Some people turned this weekly ritual into a social highlight dressing up for the event. It also signalled the hope that 2021 may see the end to some restrictions.
