Many greetings cards makers developed cards with designs reflecting responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, also known as furlough, was one measure introduced by UK chancellor, Rishi Sunak to try to prevent job losses. Lockdowns, social distancing, and restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 contributed to a worldwide economic recession.
This card’s designer, The Cake Thief, started their business after losing their day job due to the impact of coronavirus.
