Many greetings cards makers developed cards with designs reflecting responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 10 May 2020, the UK government unveiled new advice for the public “Stay Alert, Control the Virus, Save Lives” on a yellow background with a green border, similar to this card’s design. Many internet memes sprung up due to the ambiguity of the “stay alert” message which replaced “Stay at home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives.”
