Selection of documents relating to Science Museum staff member Neema Tasbihgou's trip to Hong Kong in October 2020 to install the Robots exhibition, during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Many Science Museum exhibitions tour around the UK and globally after they have closed at the Science Museum in London. However, as with so many things, this was massively disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The popular Robots exhibition closed at the Tekniska Museet in Stockholm in March 2020 and it had been due to open at the Hong Kong Science Museum in May 2020. However, the pandemic meant the exhibition’s opening had to be delayed until November 2020.
When Science Museum exhibitions tour, staff from the museum travel to help install them. These documents show how much extra paperwork was required to travel in late 2020 – from proof of COVID-19 tests to official letters from the Hong Kong Science Museum proving the reason for travel.
