Unused COVID-19 Home Test kit for a PCR test, containing sealed swab, a plastic tube containing a small amount of liquid, white absorbent pad, zip-lock bag, bio-hazard bag with silver seal, security seal, returns box made by made by MedDX Solutions, leaflet "COVID-19 Home Test" containing a step by step guide, by HM Government, ordered August 2020
A PCR (polymerase chair reaction) test is considered the “gold standard” test for COVID-19. A swab is rubbed over the tonsils and inside the nose. Placed in a protective tube and security bags, tests can be sent through the post. Alternatively, tests can be carried out at a drive through or walk through centres. At testing laboratories, swabs are put through a series of checks and preparations before they are tested for COVID-19. Results are sent through email and a text message. Community testing for people with symptoms of COVID-19 (a new continuous cough, a fever and or loss of smell or taste) began in May 2020.
This kit was donated after it could not be used as the barcodes on the kit did not match the order email, meaning that that the sample would never be able to be traced back to the kit orderer.
