Printed booklet, 'Prayers for use during the coronavirus outbreak', Church of England, UK, 2020

In March 2020, churches and other religious buildings in the UK had to close their doors to help limit the spread of COVID-19. This prayer booklet was published by the Church of England to support their congregations in this unprecedented time.

The booklet includes prayers for children to use when a friend a sick, prayers for healthcare workers and researchers, and personal prayers. The book also contains a pattern for daily prayer, with prayers and suggested bible readings for morning and evening. During lockdown, people often found the loss of their previous daily routine difficult. This pattern of prayers shows how the church tried to help people have more structure at a time when everything felt very uncertain.
