Unofficial COVID-19 volunteer car window sticker, to inform police, parking attendants and the public that the owner is volunteering and thus legally permitted to travel, The Wimbledon Print Company, London, April 2020

On 23 March 2020, the UK went into lockdown to limit the spread of COVID-19. Under these restrictions, there were a very limited number of reasons why people could leave the house, including getting food and for one form of exercise a day.

During this difficult and unprecedent time, many people volunteered to help their neighbours and community, for example by delivering food to people who were self-isolating or shielding. This was allowed under the lockdown restrictions. However, there was concern that others could assume the volunteers were simply breaking the lockdown restrictions. The Wimbledon Print Company designed these stickers to help people make it clear that they were volunteering and not breaking the rules.
