More
Miniature microphones, combined with wireless technology, have revolutionized live performance, allowing artists to sing whilst dancing, climbing, moving through the crowd, even swinging on a trapeze.
In the 1990s, designers at Danish company, DPA, worked with hearing aid manufacturers to produce increasingly small microphones that still retained the precision and fidelity required for high quality reproduction. DPA microphones are very widely used in theatre and live performance, because their small size makes them comfortable for active performers, and easy to conceal in costumes. This particular DPA 4066 headset mic comes from the Royal Court Theatre, Liverpool, where it was used regularly in performances for several years, until the cable was damaged by hair straighteners during a mid-performance wig adjustment.
