The ‘T-Cup’ pod is a homemade ‘LAMP’ (loop-mediated isothermal amplification) testing device, designed by organic chemist Vittorio Saggiomo in 2021 to enable a cheap and reliable way of self-testing for COVID-19 at home. Using recycled materials (a usedcoffee capsule), it combines the benefits of the more commonly encountered PCR and Lateral Flow tests, providing an accessible yet still highly accurate test, removing the need for specialist laboratory equipment.
