Royal Trinity Hospice leaflet titled ‘Giving as-required injections for pain and symptom control in the community’, published May 2020 in anticipation of fewer visits from Royal Trinity Hospice community nurses being made in person to patients living at home or in care homes, one of several leaflets Royal Trinity Hospice produced in February to May 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic

Royal Trinity Hospice produced this leaflet to help support their local community. During the pandemic, Royal Trinity Hospice found that more people were choosing to remain at home, rather than going into the hospice. This was partly due to the strict visiting restrictions that were necessary in hospices and care homes. Through leaflets like this one, Royal Trinity Hospice could help people cope with difficult circumstances and more complex needs at home. The pandemic meant that palliative care practice had to change, and more family caregivers were trained to give medication to control symptoms.

Founded in 1891, Royal Trinity Hospice is England’s oldest hospice. They provide in-patient and community palliative and end of life care in South West London.
