Rainbow picture made from coloured foam stickers by Luna during the COVID-19 pandemic and displayed in the window of the family home, United Kingdom, 2020

During the first lockdown in England, beginning on 23 March 2020, rainbows became symbols of hope. Many children and young people drew pictures and made crafts to display in the windows of their homes. Made from a series of foam stickers, this rainbow stayed up all year as the number of cases rose and fell and restrictions were altered to contain the spread of coronavirus. Luna made the rainbow for “daddy who works in the hospital and all his friends who work in the hospital and all the sick people in the hospital.”
