Ocean indicator, type 2017, manufactured by Westcountry Conveyors Ltd, 23 Lowley Road, Pennygillam, Launceston, Cornwall, June 2017. The instrument was made for the Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science, to a pre-existing design they supplied based on the The Hardy Plankton Indicator and Sampler, 1953.
This scientific instrument, an ocean indicator, was used on research expeditions around the UK and the Pacific Ocean by the Marine Biological Association to investigate microplastic pollution, an issue which is impacting marine ecology, and potentially human health and climate change.
