Notice for users of the Thames River Path
- Made:
- 2020 in United Kingdom
Double sided notice for cyclists, runners and walkers issued by Hammersmith and Fulham council, freely available alongside the Thames River Path, of closure of the path between Chiswick Mall and Putney Bridge from 10-12 April 2020 but remained in place for much of the first lockdown, London, 2020
When the weather was warm and sunny, many people went to their local areas. To ensure social distancing was followed many places added restrictions or partially closed areas. Hammersmith and Fulham council closed the Thames River Path between Chiswick Mall and Putney Bridge to cyclists and runners during the Bank Holiday weekend in April 2020. The leaflet also says “walkers, please note that, under new social distancing rules under to the coronavirus pandemic, groups of three or more are prohibited except for family members.” The closure remained in place for much of the first wave of COVID-19 and was co-ordinated by marshals and the police.
During the first national lockdown in England in spring 2020, people were required to stay at home, except for very limited reasons. You could only leave home to shop for essential supplies, to exercise outside once a day, for or to provide medical care or support to someone in need or if you could not work from home. You could also not meet up with anyone you did not live with.
