Medal, British Empire, silver, depicting seated figure of Britannia on obverse, with shield in the left hand, trident in the right and blazing sun above, inscribed ‘For God and the Empire around circumference with ‘For Meritorious Service’ below, on reverse four lions passant gardant surrounding Queen Elizabeth’s royal cypher surmounted by a crown, inscribed ‘Instituted by King George V’, medal suspended from a straight bar decorated with oak leaves with rose pink ribbon with pearl grey edges, engraved with the recipient name round rim, awarded to fireman Albert George Powell Marsh, for recognition for his services to the trapped and injured passengers of the train that derailed at Milton on November 20th 1955, boxed.
