Coloured and framed drawing of "Rocket" locomotive when owned by James Thompson of Kirkhouse, Cumbria, about 1840. Thompson was "Rocket's" last commercial owner when the locomotive was operating on the Brampton Railway. Passed down through the Kirkhouse family until sold at auction in 1972 to Alan Stoyel who has bequeathed it to the museum.

A coloured drawing of the Stephensons' locomotive "Rocket" prepared between 1839 and 1840 and formerly owned by "Rocket's" last commercial owner, James Thompson of Kirkhouse. Hung in his property, it reflects "Rocket" at the end of its working life and is the last of eleven known drawings made of the locomotive before its entry into the Science Museum collection.
