Trophy designed for the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, 2021

This trophy was awarded to Isamu Akasaki, Shuji Nakamura, Nick Holonyak, M George Craford and Russell Dupuis for their work on developing LED technology. Awarded by the QE Prize, the trophy celebrates the way LEDs have transformed our world.

The QE Prize holds a competition to design the trophy, open to young people worldwide. In 2019 the winner was Hannah Goldsmith, aged 20, from the UK. The shape of Hannah’s trophy was inspired by electronic circuits.
